With the KMS 30 HE automatic single head
punching machine holes are punched in ceramic sheets. The
ceramic sheets are stored in the in loading handling system. If
necessary the sheets could be turned. After the
alignment of the sheets, they are transported with the handling system 1 to
the sheet support in front of the punching unit.
The sheet is then sucked onto the sheet support and fixed in place with a
vacuum. The punching frame moves over the sheet
support, picks up the sheet and moves below the punching tool. The punching
frame is positioned with an electric cross table. The large hole
diameter is punched in the ceramic sheet with
pneumatic punching cylinders. Then the small holes are punched in the sheet
with punching needles via a cam controller. After
the punching program has been completed, the punching frame lays the sheet
on the sheet support again. After that the
handling system 2 picks the sheet up. The sheet will be cleaned on both
sides with the handling system 2 and put on the
transparent glass of the inspection system. The sheet will be
moved between a very bright light and several high resolution CCD line scan
cameras in steps of 11 µm (optical resolution).
Within each step, one line of picture-data is taken and processed. In result
the diameter and position of each via is
determined. The readings are compared with the nominal data of the punching
files. Depending on the tolerances defined by the
customer, the result of the inspection is graded as good or bad.
In case of a bad sheet the operator can locate the defect with the
help of an interactive error display. There each
defective via is displayed as seen by the camera and additional via-data is
given. The operator can detect the position of the
defect on a outline of the actual sheet where he has also access to
functions for detecting global or systematic
punching errors like the growing wastage of a pin. The amount of good and
bad scanned sheets is displayed on the screen too.
After the inspection the sheets are transported with the handling
system 3 to the barcode printing unit. The barcode will be printed
and checked by a scanner. The „good“ sheets will
be transported with the handling system 4 to the unloading handling system.
The bad sheets will be stored on the bad sheet
convoyer. The system is controlled by a Siemens S7
PLC. Simple punching tool changes and user-friendly programming
with the Simatic PC FI 45 ensure a high level of system flexibility.
